Recently, I ran into an issue with a new feature on the Contact Form 7 plugin. I saw there was an update to the plugin, and said “Why not? Let’s update it”. After updating the plugin, I soon saw the new feature to run a configuration check. It resulted in “YOUR CONTACT FORM HAS A CONFIGURATION ISSUE”. I went to the form and submitted tests and all went well. Although, the warning still bugged me.

I searched online and found a discussion about the issue. The author suggested to “ignore” the error if everything is working. /shrug

Well, I’m not a person that’s going to take ‘No’ for an answer, so I dug deeper. Unfortunately, the link that follows the warning goes to this:

https://wordpress.org/support/topic/contact-form-7-configuration-error

That was completely useless!

Then I looked back at the Mail Tab for the plugin and noticed that there was a red highlighted field. I compared it to the Form Tab.

Notice there asterisk (*) in the top two fields and not one under the Subject field? I added an asterisk to the Subject field and Voila! The message has been resolved!
